What Is Cricut?
If you’re a hobbyist or have been in the sticker business for some time, you’re likely familiar with Cricut. Cricut is a brand of cutting plotters (also known as computer-controlled cutting machines) that are perfect for small-scaleand at-home projects.
These cutters work for plenty of materials, including paper, felt, vinyl, and more. There are also a variety of models. Today, we’ll focus on the Cricut Explore and Cricut Maker machines.
How to Cut Circle Stickers at Home
The best way to make round stickers with Cricut equipment is to use the Print then Cut feature. This feature prints the images on a page, and then the page is placed on a cutting mat and loaded into the Cricut machine. The machine will scan the registration box and cut the images.
It’s a fairly straightforward process, but we’ll break it down further for you.

Set Up Your Design
There are several ways to create your design. Some designers use Photoshop or Procreate to build designs, others prefer websites such as Canva. The Cricut Design Space software is also compatible with Cricut equipment. Design Space offers templates that accommodate half-inch round stickers and three-inch round label templates. However, the maximum printable area of the Print then Cut feature is 9.25 inches by 6.75 inches, so all designs must be this size or smaller.
In Cricut Design Space, you can select a template for circle stickers by going to the left-hand side, selecting Shapes, and then Circle from the available options. At this point, you can include your pre-created designs or use the design tools available to create them.
Change Your Design to Print Then Cut
All designs are printable once you change the Fill type. To do this, go to Edit and select the Fill dropdown menu. Once there, select Print.
Next, load your sticker paper into your inkjet printer. You may need to load it face-up or face-down (depending on the printer), so print a test sheet to check. Once completed, click Make It, then Continue, and Send to Printer.
Materials and Cutting

- Select materials: In material settings, select sticker paper.
- Load the mat: Place your printed sticker paper onto the LightGrip blue mat, lining up the page with the upper left corner. Smooth the paper down and press the flashing arrow button on the Cricut machine to load the mat.
- Cut your stickers: At this point, the Cricut icon button should be flashing. This means it’s ready to cut your stickers. Press C to start the cutting process. The Cricut will start moving around and cutting your paper.
- Unload the mat: The machine will indicate when the cut is finished and it is safe to remove the mat. A flashing arrow should appear; press it to unload the mat.
The result should be custom-cut stickers with your unique design. If the cut did not make it all the way through, simply restart the cutting process until it cuts through.
