Are you looking for a fun way to add some pizzazz to your anime collection? Look no further than holographic anime stickers! Custom holographic stickers are the perfect way to make your favorite characters stand out and bring some extra sparkle into your life.
Whether you want to take on this project yourself or get professional help, this guide will walk you through all the steps needed to create beautiful, eye-catching holographic anime stickers that will be sure to impress you. So let's get started!
Find your design
The perfect design for your anime stickers starts with you! You can choose to create your own designs from scratch or look into existing designs that have already been made. If you choose to create your own design, plenty of tools and tutorials are available online to help guide you through the process depending on the software you want to use.
You could also find vector images of your favorite characters online or use photo editing software to create your own unique design. Simply be careful when you want to sell your stickers online. Most characters will be protected by copyright and should not be sold in their original rendition.
We also have additional design tips for holographic stickers.
Import a holographic background
Once you have chosen the perfect design for your anime stickers, it's time to find a holographic background to go with it. This is not a necessity. It will simply help you visualize which parts of your stickers you'd like to have a metallic effect.
There are plenty of resources online that offer pre-designed holographic backgrounds. If you plan on having your design printed professionally, use the holographic background provided by your printer of choice for the best outcome.
Once you have your background, you want to create a clipping mask in Adobe Illustrator.
- Select "Choose file" > "Place" and choose your holographic image.
- Clicking "Embed" while the image is selected.
- For a specific placement, cut the image ("Control + X" or "Command + X"), double-click on your chosen area and select "Object" > "Compound path" > "Release".
- Move your background over the area and send it to the back ("Object" > "Arrange" > "Send to Back").
- Again, select your chosen area. Click "Object" > "Compound Path" > "Make" to hide your background in a clipping mask.
- Then, select "Object" > "Clipping Mask" > "Make" and your holographic background is locked in.
Create white layers
You can control the holographic effect of your stickers by using white ink. By adding white ink between your sticker material and your colors of choice, you can dilute the metallic look.
But to do that, you need to tell your printer where to print white ink. Designers use white layers to do that.
To make the white layers, create a separate layer in any photo editing software and fill it with white. Then adjust the opacity of each layer to achieve the desired effect.
If you are outsourcing your printing to a professional printer, you do not have to do that. Instead, you can just leave them a comment that includes which parts of your design you'd like white ink printed under.
The basic DIY
Creating your own holographic stickers at home doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. With just a few materials and some creativity, you can easily create professional-looking holographic anime stickers.
First, you'll need to gather the following materials: a printer, scissors, and holographic sticker paper of your choice. Begin by printing out your chosen design onto the holographic material. Ensure that the material is compatible with your printer. Once you have printed out the designs, you can use scissors to cut them into individual stickers.
For the best result, we recommend not using white layers, if you have little to no experience with them. You should also opt for a standard sticker shape like square or rectangular for easy cutting.
The Cricut DIY
Creating holographic anime stickers is even easier if you can access a Cricut machine. Simply import your chosen design into the Cricut software and print it onto special-effect adhesive paper (you might have to double-check your material settings here).
The machine will use its precision blades to cut out your designs through the material layer and the backing paper at the same time. This is perfect for creating your own die cut stickers in minutes.
Again, be careful regarding white layers and spot colors as your printer might not have the functionality needed to do that.
The professional option
If you don't have access to a Cricut machine or are looking for even more professional-looking results, plenty of online stickers and label printing services can help create the perfect stickers for you (hi, it's us).
