How to Clean Stickers Off Glass

We have all had our fair share of encounters with stickers. If you take a walk down memory lane, chances are your bedroom wall was covered in stickers when you were younger. Is your child’s current laptop coated in all kinds of stickers promoting the latest celebrities, trends, and brands? Did the car in front of you at the red light today have a sticker promoting world peace?

What we are trying to say is that there are stickers practically everywhere and for every purpose.

We will even take our chances and assume you are a whiz at making and printing your own stickers. If you aren’t, don’t worry—we have a blog on how to print stickers. Point is, stickers are great! They are wonderful, fun, and an easy way to add a little pzazz to almost any object or room while simultaneously promoting your brand and business.

While stickers are fantastic, there is a shared concern when it comes to removing stickers from surfaces, especially from glass. Sometimes people scrape away at their stickers only to have to deal with a sticky residue that is left behind.

If you’re struggling to scrape off a sticker from your glass door or window, we have a few tricks up our sleeves that will help remove it from a glass surface—and almost none of them require too much elbow grease.

Try any of these tried-and-true methods:

Isopropyl Alcohol Is a Go-To Cleaner

Rubbing alcohol, also known as isopropyl alcohol, is truly one of the most versatile household cleaners out there.

A solution of 50% to 70% isopropyl alcohol can not only be used to clean and disinfect wounds and surfaces but it can also polish the jewellry, get rid of fruit flies, disinfect technology devices, and clean makeup brushes.

Another bonus use—removing stickers from glass.

Simply soak your sticker with a rag dipped in rubbing alcohol for at least twenty minutes. When the time is up, take a microfiber cloth and start scrubbing away at the sticker. Don’t be alarmed if you don’t get rid of the sticker in one pass—you might need to repeat the process a few times.

Soap and Water Never Lets You Down

Who can forget the old-fashioned way to clean stains? Ah yes, the old soap-and-water concoction.

Simply pour some dish soap into a bowl and add hot water. Soak a cloth in the mixture, and hold it up to the sticker until it is well-soaked.

You will know it is working if you are able to slowly pull the sticker off the glass in one piece. Be patient with this method as it does require a little bit more time and commitment.

Window Cleaner for Window Stickers

Sure, window sprays are great at cleaning and polishing your glass. Did you know they have a secret talent too? It’s removing stickers.

Most window sprays contain a solvent, which makes them effective at breaking down the adhesive. Simply spray the sticker until it is soaked and give it a few minutes. While you might not be able to pull it off the glass in one piece, soaking it with a window spray solution should allow you to easily scrape it off with a scraper or a microfiber cloth.
