Add a glitter layer to your design

You do not have to add a glitter layer to your design, but it can help you visualise the final look of your stickers or labels much better. And here is how you do it:

  1. Find a glitter background: For a simple visualisation, any glitter pattern will do. But if you want an accurate representation, use a glitter image close to the material your design will be printed on. You can find our glitter pattern in Graphic.
  2. Open Adobe Illustrator with your design and add the glitter image via "Choose file" > "Place" and choose your image.
  3. Embed the glitter image by clicking "Embed" while the image is still selected.
  4. Make a specific area of your design sparkle by cutting the glitter image and pasting it to your dashboard ("Control + X" or "Command + X"). Double-click on the area you want to have a glitter background. Click "Object" > "Compound path" > "Release".
  5. Your glitter background appears. Position it over the area you chose and send it to the back via "Object" > "Arrange" > "Send to Back"
  6. Select the area you want to sparkle. Click "Object" > "Compound Path" > "Make". Now the image is hidden in a clipping mask.
  7. Next, go to "Object" > "Clipping Mask" > "Make" and your glitter background is locked into your design!

Use white layers to control the glitter effect

White layers are design tools used to represent white ink.

White ink is very effective in controlling the effects of glitter stickers. It allows you to adjust the intensity of the sparkle and ensures that your design doesn't become too overwhelming.

When we print white ink on your design, we dilute the glitter effect. You can use that to create opaque, vibrant colours.

When applied correctly, white layers can make a subtle difference between having an impressive and eye-catching design or one that looks over the top.

Opt for solid colours and a bold font

When working with a busy pattern like glitter, it's essential to choose colours and fonts that stand out. Bright, bold colours and strong fonts will help your design pop against the background of the glitter materials.

Not only will this make your design more eye-catching, but it also helps ensure that your message is visible even when surrounded by all the sparkles. So if you want to create a truly unique design on glitter materials, opt for solid colours and a bold font!

With custom glitter samples, you can also assess the quality of the materials used, such as the glitter effect and the adhesive backing of the sticker.
