What are static clings?
The close-to-invisible static cling material disappears into the background making your design pop.
Add highly opaque (non-see-thru) white ink behind colors to add depth. Where no white ink is present the colors appear translucent (see-thru).
Static clings can be stuck to the inside or outside the window. They are resistant to water, chemicals, scratches, and fading in sunlight so can be applied outdoors.
Static clings get cut digitally in any shape around your design.
You can choose any size from 2cm-70cm wide, up to 500cm long.
Static clings don’t use an adhesive to stick. They rely on static to stay in place.
This means they’ll stick to any smooth, non-porous surface. Sticking to glass is the most popular use, but they’ll also stick to some plastic & painted surfaces.
Because no adhesive is used on static cling samples, it's super easy to remove these & reuse them over and over.
If the surface gets dusty or dirty, simply clean using warm soapy water and reapply.

How static clings actually stick
Static clings don't use an adhesive, and despite the name, they don't run on static electricity either. The vinyl grips a clean, smooth surface the way a rubber suction cup does, forming an even seal across the whole design.
That's also why the surface matters more than almost anything else here. Dust, texture, or grease breaks the seal before the cling ever gets a chance to hold.
Unlike standard vinyl stickers, there's no glue at any point, which is what makes static clings so easy to reposition and pull back off.
How long static clings last
Static clings last up to one year indoors and up to six months outdoors, since sun and weather wear down the material faster outside. They resist water, chemicals, and scratches either way, thanks to a clear gloss laminate over the print. Keep the cling indoors, out of direct weather, if you want it to hold up for the full year.
Applying and removing your static cling
- Clean the surface with warm soapy water and let it dry fully. Any dust or grease left behind stops the cling from sealing.
- Peel the cling from its backing and press it onto the surface, working from the center outward.
- Smooth out any bubbles as you go. A credit card or squeegee edge works well for this.
- To remove it, lift a corner and peel the whole cling away slowly. No scraping, no residue.
If you're sticking it to the inside of a window so it reads correctly from outside, your design needs to be printed in reverse so the finished side faces the glass.
Can you reuse static clings?
Yes, you can reuse a static cling, since there's no adhesive to wear out. Dust is the real limit, not the material. Every time you remove and reapply it, a little more debris collects on the back, and that's what eventually weakens the hold.
Between uses, stick it to a flat, smooth surface, like a clear polypropylene document sleeve, rather than folding it or leaving it loose. That keeps it clean and crease-free for next time.

Is there a difference between static cling and window cling?
No, they're the same product. "Window cling" just names the most common use, since these are usually applied to glass.
Can I put a static cling on my car window?
Yes. Most people stick them to the inside of the car window rather than the outside, since that protects the design from weather and road debris while keeping it fully visible from outside the car.
Can I apply a static cling to the outside of a window?
Yes, static clings work on either side of glass or another smooth surface. Applying one outside just means more direct sun and weather, which is why outdoor durability tops out around six months instead of a year.
Does removing a static cling leave residue or damage the surface?
No, there's no adhesive to begin with, so there's nothing left behind once you peel it off.
